Point Breeze House Fire, Kane Removal Vote Today, Goodwill Bridal Sale

One man was injured after flames ripped through a home overnight in South Philadelphia. The fire broke out around 1 a.m. Wednesday in the 1700 block of Reed Street in the Point Breeze section of the city. Firefighters quickly brought the blaze under control. One man was taken to Methodist Hospital where he was treated for smoke inhalation. The cause of the fire is under investigation.

The state Senate is scheduled to take a historic vote today on whether to remove embattled Attorney General Kathleen Kane from office. A two-thirds vote of the Senate would be required to remove Kathleen Kane as attorney general, and even though Republicans hold a huge majority in the chamber, several Democratic votes would be required. Tuesday morning, Allegheny County Democrat Jay Costa, the Senate minority leader said that Senate Democratic lawyers have told him that Governor Wolf would be compelled to remove Kane from office if the Senate puts up the necessary two-thirds vote to do so.

The annual bridal extravaganza at the Goodwill Store in Pennsauken, NJ is set for this weekend. Brides will have to brace themselves for the sale known as the 8th Annual Running of the Brides Valentine’s Day Weekend Bridal Sale Extravaganza. The sale will have something for the beach wedding, the country wedding, the city wedding and everything else in between. The sale will feature designer, dream dresses for brides at major discounts. In addition to the almost 400 gowns, the sale will feature accessories, veils and shoes. Some of the dresses include the original price tag, so the savings are very evident. No dress will be more than $300.
