Police say a man has been arrested after he pulled a gun on a uniformed police officer. Philadelphia Police Chief Inspector Scott Small said officers responded to a report of a person with a gun around 6:30 Tuesday evening at the intersection of 55th and Arch Streets. When officers approached the suspect, he ran half a block and then pulled a handgun and pointed it at one of the officers. The officer fired back and the suspect dropped his gun and took off running again. After a brief foot chase, the officers found the suspect hiding in an alley behind 55th Street and identified him as the man who pulled a gun on them. Officials say the suspect was immediately arrested. He is described as 24 years old and police say he lives in the immediate area. No injuries were reported and Chief Inspector Small commended both officers involved in the incident. Small says the weapon that the suspect dropped appears to be a semi-automatic handgun with a long barrel. The suspect is currently being questioned by detectives.

The Free Library of Philadelphia kicks off its annual ‘One Book, One Philadelphia’ reading initiative. For the last 14 years, the program has encouraged literacy throughout the city by picking one book for people to read over a six-week span, and then having them discuss it. This year it’s Cold Mountain. Opera Philadelphia is also running an opera of Cold Mountain during part of this year’s program and other events are focused around the book that people can take part in as well.

As Bill Cosby seeks to have a criminal charge of sexual assault against him dismissed in Pennsylvania, he also faces civil lawsuits in Massachusetts and California from women who claim he sexually abused them decades ago. The comedian also faces a defamation lawsuit by model Janice Dickinson, who claims Cosby drugged and raped her in Lake Tahoe, California, in 1982. Johnson sued Cosby over his denials. Cosby is seeking a dismissal.
