The Neshaminy High School basketball coach who apparently knocked down a referee is out of a job. A video was released of Jerry Devine apparently hitting a referee during a game earlier this month. He was suspended from coaching, and last night the school board voted to officially dismiss Devine. It's not clear if he resigned or was fired. Devine was also charged with harassment.

There is late word of a student in custody in connection with an online threat against three schools in Delaware County. Overnight, the mayor of Chester announced a 17-year-old girl is in police custody, accused of threatening several schools and thousands of students. The photo, shared on Instagram, threatened shootings at Chester Upland District schools, as well as Chester Community Charter School and Chichester High School. The post, which includes images of guns, a casket, a knife and horned-faces, closes with the phrase, “All blacks must die.” It lead to an alert across several campuses and prompted school officials to weigh closing schools today, after two days of weather cancellations. Mayor Kirkland has said all Chester Upland Schools will be open today.

A state Senate committee is expected to issue recommendations today that could set the stage for a Senate vote on whether to remove embattled Attorney General Kathleen Kane. A day earlier, a state House committee took action that could lead to Kane’s impeachment. The report of the state Senate committee studying whether Kathleen Kane can function as attorney general with a suspended law license could set the stage for a Senate vote to remove her in days or weeks.
