USPS Gift Delivery Tips, WCU Rams Play Macy's Parade, Salvation Army Thanksgiving To Go Meals

Again, this holiday season, many people are ordering gifts online and packages are arriving at their doorsteps. If you have packages arriving home when you aren't, the United States Postal Service has some tips for you. The easiest way to protect those deliveries is recruiting a neighbor to be on the lookout for packages you know that are going to be delivered that day. You can also track your package from the minute you order it. If you want even more control, consider renting a P.O. Box where you can pick up your deliveries at your convenience.

A local university's marching band is set to perform this Thursday in New York at one of the season's most beloved parades. Out of 138 colleges that applied, the West Chester University Incomparable Golden Rams Marching Band was just one of four selected to perform at this year’s Macy’s thanksgiving day parade. 8 million people are expected to come out to this year’s parade and more than 40 million are expected to watch it on TV. The band’s live performance is one minute and 15 seconds on camera and will happen right before Santa Claus makes his appearance.

As families get ready for Thanksgiving, The Salvation Army Greater Philadelphia is making sure that the less fortunate get fed, as well. The Salvation Army Greater Philadelphia is serving up about 4,000 dinners. This year it’s Thanksgiving-to-go, allowing folks to pick up prepared food, and then enjoy it in the comfort of their own homes. With about 2,800 pounds of turkey, thousands of pounds of mashed potatoes, stuffing, green beans, and thousands of cans of gravy, cranberry sauce and packages of rolls, they will distribute the food at three Salvation Army sites – the Brown Street headquarters, its Community Center in Kensington – which is the first in the U.S. – and its West Philadelphia center.
