Trump Leads PA GOP Voters, Election Ambassador Corps, Naloxone Available in PA

A new poll of Pennsylvania GOP voters taken before last night's debate shows Donald Trump and Ben Carson neck-and-neck with registered Republicans, while Democrats are solidly behind Hillary Clinton. Franklin and Marshall College Poll Director Terry Madonna says Donald Trump is at 23-percent, and Ben Carson at 22-percent, among Pennsylvania Republicans. On the Democratic side, it’s no contest, with 52-percent favoring Hillary Clinton, and Bernie Sanders at just 18-percent. A majority of all registered voters – 51-percent – now believe embattled Attorney General Kathleen Kane should resign. And Madonna says Pennsylvania voters now say the number one problem facing the state is, by far dysfunctional government.

The Committee of Seventy is making final preparations for a pilot program that’ll deploy 200 high school students at polling places across Philadelphia on Election Day. The goal is to get young voters involved in the elections process. The project is called — the Election Ambassador Corps. It deputizes junior and seniors from six area high schools to visit polling places, answer voter questions, conduct exit polls and provide suggestions on improving the voter experience.

An executive order signed by Pennsylvania’s Physician General makes the lifesaving drug Naloxone readily available for anyone. Physician General Dr. Rachel Levine signed the order because she says opioids like heroin are taking lives and destroying families at a frantic pace. The executive order makes Neloxone available to anyone who might need it, not just first responders. Governor Tom Wolf says more than 60 pharmacies in Montgomery County have already agreed to carry it.
