The New York Giants were somehow worse than the Eagles Monday night, in a "Black Out" 27-7 Eagles' victory. The Eagles are 3-3, and own the tiebreaker over the mistake-prone Giants, who are also 3-3. The teams combined for seven turnovers, with quarterbacks Eli Manning and Sam Bradford alone combining to throw five interceptions. The Eagles’ defense, forced Manning into two intentional grounding calls—a rarity in today’s NFL. Bradford was 24 of 38 for 280 yards, including a touchdown—and three interceptions. The Eagles’ defense held things together by putting pressure on Manning causing him to misfire all over the place, and was sacked four times. DeMarco Murray rushed for his first 100-yard game as an Eagle, amounting to an Eagles’ victory—and first place in the NFC East.

A successful dermatologist who was found unconscious in the entry of a Manhattan building after a night of partying died of acute cocaine and alcohol intoxication, the medical examiner’s office said Monday. The Oct. 4 death of Kiersten Cerveny, a 38-year-old doctor from Long Island with a husband and three children, was ruled an accident, according to Julie Bolcer, a spokeswoman for the medical examiner. The finding of an overdose confirmed what police had suspected all along. Authorities believed Cerveny had been snorting cocaine all night as she shared drinks with a television and movie producer at a Lower East Side nightspot. Detectives said Cerveny eventually rode back to a Chelsea apartment building with the producer, a Facebook friend of Cerveny’s identified by police as Marc Henry Johnson. The two pulled up at the modest five-story walk-up around 4:30 a.m. Four hours later, surveillance video showed Johnson and another man carrying Cerveny down the stairs to the building’s entryway. Johnson called 911 and stayed with Cerveny until EMTs arrived, then left. When police officers showed up, Cerveny was in the lobby, unconscious and unresponsive. She was pronounced dead at a nearby hospital. Cerveny’s achievements included winning the 1995 America’s Junior Miss competition as a teenager from Blackwood, New Jersey. The prize was a $30,000 scholarship she used to attend Duke University. After graduating, she earned her medical degree from Tulane.

Pennsylvania officials remind motorists that the weeks ahead pose the greatest risk for accidents involving deer. Ron Ruman, spokesman for the state Insurance Department, says Pennsylvania motorists should know that under state law, insurance companies are not allowed to impose a surcharge due to an accident involving deer. He says that’s important because according to data compiled by State Farm Insurance, Pennsylvania is second only to West Virginia in deer-related crashes. With fall being breeding season, November is the worst month for accidents involving deer, with October and December number two and three. Dawn and dusk are peak times for deer activity.
