A local university nursing school is helping the community stay healthy. The Widener community nursing clinic provides free or low cost medical care to needy patients in Chester. Director, Ellen Boyda says it's a great opportunity for students at nearby Widener University. She said patients have included homeless members of the community and those who can’t afford medical care. The clinic depends on volunteers for all its services.

The Jersey shore home where Bruce Springsteen wrote the album “Born to Run” is back on the market. The two-bedroom cottage at 7 ½ West End Court in Long Branch is owned by three fans of the singer. They bought it in 2009 with the idea of turning the home into a tribute to the New Jersey rock legend, but those plans were derailed. Springsteen has said that he wrote every song on the “Born to Run” album while living in the home from 1974 to 1975. The home’s list price is $299,000.

The state’s oldest living female Marine celebrated her 100th birthday Sunday with family and friends honoring her at a luncheon. Grace Bergman has lived in the Philadelphia area for her entire life. Born in 1915, Grace grew up in Lansdale and graduated from Hatfield High school. She went to business school, and then started a food collection group to help the needy through the Great Depression. She joined the Marine Corps after the bombing of Pearl Harbor. Eventually she got married and had a baby . Grace says she has lead a full life of love and family.
