T-shirt makers are bracing for the pope with new faith-inspired designs. Scott Soffen, the force behind the T-shirt website "faithadelphia.com/phaithadelphia.com" says with the World Meeting of Families coinciding with the Jewish high holiday Yom Kippur, he decided to make a shirt that says, "Good Yontif, Pontiff 5776." He also has a shirt that says “Yo Pontiff Philadelphia” and several shirts incorporating the Pope and Philadelphia sports teams. Soffen has several other pope shirts available for sale at faithadelphia.com.

Due to road closures and other restrictions during the papal visit, it may be a bit challenging for customers and employees of businesses in and around Center City to get to. One business just outside the traffic box security zone is offering an incentive to its workers. The Sugarhouse casino along Delaware Avenue near Spring Garden Street is just outside the traffic box security zone and it’s hoping business will be brisk. To ensure operations run smoothly, the casino will be paying its employees time and a half during this time.

Cell phone companies have spent millions of dollars upgrading their services along the Ben Franklin parkway in anticipation of the pope’s visit to Philadelphia. Some customers who attended the Made In America concert on the parkway say those modifications did not help their cell service. Together AT&T and Verizon have invested $45-million to add cell-service infrastructure along the Parkway, these modifications are expected to quadruple wireless coverage. Many of the people who attended the made in America concert last weekend say their cell phone reception was terrible. Made in America had between 30 and 70 thousand people in attendance each day. The pope’s visit is expected to bring more than 1 million people to the parkway.
