One Direction Not Breaking Up, But Will Take 'Well Earned Break' Next Year

Rumors are swirling that the world's most popular boy band could be hanging it up after an enormously successful 5 year run. The Sun in London reported that the group now composed of Harry Styles, Liam Payne, Louis Tomlinson and Niall Horan have agreed to take an extended one-year hiatus starting in March 2016 to pursue solo opportunities. It goes on to say that they won't be touring in support of the release of their upcoming fifth album. Their last scheduled tour date is October 31, 2015, at Motorpoint Arena in Sheffield, England. 1D formed during the seventh season of the British The X Factor in 2010 and was signed to Simon Cowell's record label. Fifth member, Zayn Malik, left the group in March.

In face of the speculation and fan fervor, One Direction's Niall Horan took to twitter to reassure the fandom. "Ok so Lots of rumours going round. We are not splitting up, but we will be taking a well earned break at some point next year," he wrote in one tweet. He went on telling Directioners, "Don't worry though, we still have lots we want to achieve ! Can't wait for you to hear all the new music we have for you and to perform."
