Hundreds of residents were forced from their homes overnight after fire ripped through a 14-story apartment building in Pennsauken, New Jersey. The flames broke out just after 12 a.m. Monday on the third floor inside the Cooper River Plaza Apartments in the 5100 block of North Park Drive. No residents were injured. But one firefighter was hospitalized for heat exhaustion.
The cause of the fire is under investigation.

Philadelphia police are searching for the driver in a hit-and-run crash that left one man dead and another injured in the Juniata section of the city. It happened around 10:30 p.m. Sunday near East Luzerne and I Streets where an SUV slammed into another car with two people inside. Both were rushed to Temple University Hospital, where one of the victims, a man in his 30’s, died a short time later. The other man was treated for minor injuries. Authorities say they found the vehicle believed to be involved in the accident, but the driver remains on the loose.

Philadelphia police are looking for the vandals who slashed tires on more than a dozen vehicles in the city’s Queen Village neighborhood. Authorities say a total of 18 tires were flattened early Sunday morning on vehicles along the 800 block of Swanson Street and the 100 block of Queen Street. Some of the vehicles had more than one tire slashed. Police are using surveillance video from nearby homes to try to find the vandals.
