Amtrak Victim Attorney Questions, They Will Surf Again, 76ers No To Wells Fargo

An attorney representing Amtrak derailment victims says word that the train engineer wasn’t talking, texting, or using data on his cell phone leading up to the crash raises more questions than it answers. Why was the train traveling at 106 miles per hour — more than twice the speed limit where train jumped the tracks? That's the main question Larry Bendesky wants answered. So far, four victims represented by Bendesky and his colleagues have filed suit. He says eight others will file shortly.

People with spinal cord injuries will be given the opportunity to ride the waves next weekend in Wildwood Crest, with a specially designed surfboard. Luke Alvarez is a teacher at Carusi Middle School in Cherry Hill, but he makes surfboards on the side. He made a special board for people with disabilities to use at the “They Will Surf Again” event on June 21. MossRehab is sponsoring the event. The board has small holes to connect handles or rails for the riders to hold onto.

The Philadelphia 76ers have decided to stop referring to the Wells Fargo Center by name in all news releases and on the team website because the financial institution chose not to become a business partner with the basketball franchise. This season, the 76ers started referring to the 20,000-seat arena simply as The Center. Wells Fargo, which has a naming rights deal on the arena through 2024, declined comment.
