WYSP Final Hour

Two weeks of saying goodbye wrapped up this afternoon. WYSP's rock formatted signal will now be the home of sister station, sports talk WIP, and will now be called Sports Radio 94 WIP.

The final two weeks of WYSP included many listener phone calls offering well wishes, as well as calls from some of rock's greatest, including Jon Anderson of Yes, and Alan Parsons.

Former jocks from the 70s like Denny Somach, through the 90s, like Couzin Ed, were on-air this week with many memories of their days behind the mic at WYSP.

Today, September 2, 2011, at 2pm the staff gathered into the studio for the final hour of music to be played on WYSP. They came on air every couple of songs to ID themselves, and give their start and end date of employment with WYSP.

Below is the final hour of music:

Octane: I For One
Who: Long Live Rock
Rage Against The Machine: Guerilla Radio
Guns n Roses: Paradise City
Cinderella: Don't Know What You Got (Till It's Gone)
Kiss: Rock And Roll All Night
Led Zeppelin: Rock & Roll
Ozzy Osbourne: See You On The Other Side
Metallica: Fade To Black

The music then faded out, and at 3 o'clock WIP launched on the FM signal with Howard Eskin hosting the first show.

If you are looking for a place to find rock when WYSP signs off, iradiophilly has plenty of options to check out:

Eleven - Rock
Ziggy - Classic Rock
Skin - Alternative Rock
Rift - Indie Rock
Libra - Adult Alternative
