A man is under arrest after stealing a cash register from a Dunkin' Donuts in West Philadelphia. It happened around 2 a.m. Tuesday at the coffee shop near 63rd and Girard Streets.
Police say the man smashed the drive-thru window, grabbed the cash register and ran away. He was caught by police a short time later.

A new study shows the job market for high school students is sharply dropping, especially for kids in Philadelphia. Researchers found Philadelphia teens have one of the highest unemployment rates in the nation. The study was conducted by The Center for Labor Markets and Policy at Drexel University. The fraction of teens working in the city now is just about one in six. The study notes that teens from the suburbs also struggle, but shows they are more likely to find jobs.

A newly expanded medical marijuana bill is expected to pass the Pennsylvania Senate, although its prospects remain unclear in the House. The medical marijuana bill was scheduled for a Senate vote Tuesday. On Monday, the Senate amended the bill to add Crohn’s disease, diabetes and chronic or intractable pain to the bill’s list of treatable illnesses. The bill also was amended to allow the use of vaporization, if a physician decides that it’s useful to treat cancer, seizures or post-traumatic stress disorder. The bill would let doctors prescribe medical marijuana through extracted oils, ointments, tinctures and nebulizers. Smoking it wouldn’t be allowed. Gov. Tom Wolf supports it.
