An autopsy was scheduled Monday for a man whose body was found by a child who was playing along the banks of the Delaware River in Camden, New Jersey. Police say a child made the discovery around 3 p.m. Sunday while playing in the area of 28th Street and Adams Avenue. Investigators are trying to positively identify the body, described as a Hispanic man in his 40s. Authorities are not sure how the man died or how long he had been in the water. Anyone with information is asked to call the Camden County Prosecutor’s Office at (856) 614-8003 or Camden County Police Department at (856) 757-7420.

Official delegations from 150 countries around the world are coming to see Pope Francis and take part in the World Meeting of Families conference in Philadelphia at the end of September. But those planning for the pope’s two-day visit were stunned to learn recently that many pilgrims from a Southeast Asian nation already have made arrangements to make the trip. The number one country so far for registration is Vietnam. Monsignor Joseph Trinh, pastor of St. Helena Catholic Church in the Lower Northeast, grew up in Vietnam and is ministering to the large Vietnamese community here in the archdiocese. He also is working to find places for several pilgrims traveling from his native country to Philadelphia to see the pope.

A former drug officer accused with five colleagues could face cross-examination as he testifies in their racketeering trial in Philadelphia. Michael Spicer is set to return after spending most of Friday on the witness stand. The 47-year-old Spicer has denied the testimony of a former squad member who says the officers routinely stole cash and drugs from suspects. Federal prosecutors have also called more than a dozen admitted drug dealers. They say they were robbed, false convicted and sometimes beaten by the elite squad members.
