More Mayoral TV Radio Ads, Same Sex Marriage, West Deptford Elderly Robberies

Just three weeks remain before the May 19th Pennsylvania primary and the battle for the Democratic nomination for mayor is about to get more heated, with two more candidates launching TV and radio ads. This week brings the first broadcast ads of former City Councilman Jim Kenney and former D-A Lynne Abraham. Randall Miller, political analyst at St. Joseph’s University, says voters should be braced for more. Some of the candidates have been taking relatively gentle jabs at one another on their websites and at forums. But Miller wonders when the tv and radio ads will turn negative.

Same sex marriage takes center stage today as the US Supreme Court hears oral arguments on the issue, and marriage equality advocates are cautiously optimistic. The issue, whether same-sex couples have a constitutional right to marry, is one the court refused to address two years ago. The arguments come from six cases from four states: Ohio, Kentucky, Michigan and Tennessee. Today many couples from same-sex marriage lawsuits across the country.will be rallying in Washington, D.C. outside the US Supreme Court building.

West Deptford Police detectives are looking for a woman they say is responsible for attacking and robbing elderly victims. Police say the woman knocked on doors and made small talk before attacking. Detectives say there are four victims and eight attempted robbery cases. Police believe this woman lives in the area and describe the woman as African-American, age 50 to 60 with bushy hair and glasses. Assistant Police Chief Sean says the robberies happened in broad daylight, and the woman attacked at random.
