Pennsylvania State Police say a 22-year-old man allegedly shot his father while inside a car on the Schuylkill Expressway westbound in West Conshohocken Borough, around 5:45pm yesterday. A family of three was traveling in a Buick Lacrosse and the son, who was seated in rear of the vehicle, allegedly shot his father, the driver, in the head. The 42-year-old father, from Philadelphia, was taken to the hospital where he is in critical but stable condition. The 22-year-old son, from Philadelphia, was taken into custody at the scene. Police say charges are pending. The Schuylkill Expressway was closed in both directions, but later reopened to traffic.

Former Philadelphia district attorney Lynne Abraham is recovering after collapsing during a mayoral debate at the Kimmel Center in Center City. It was about 10 minutes into the debate when Democratic mayoral candidate Lynne Abraham collapsed while on stage. Abraham went back stage to receive medical attention and the debate went on. She says the doctor tells her she may have suffered from a sudden drop in blood pressure. Abraham says she’s embarrassed about the incident but assures constituents it will not affect her campaigning.

Governor Wolf has nominated one venture capitalist from Montgomery County to replace another as state treasurer of Pennsylvania. Timothy Reese, a Temple graduate who grew up in West Philadelphia, has been nominated to replace Rob McCord, who resigned as treasurer before pleading guilty to federal campaign donation violations. If confirmed by the state Senate, Reese would be the first African-American to serve as state treasurer.
