The Phillies are back in town. After the team finished spring training in Clearwater, Florida with a record of 12 and 17 and a couple of ties, some of the Phillies faithful gathered at the ball park Thursday night to welcome their team back. Baseball returns to South Philadelphia tonight - the Phillies are starting a two game exhibition series against the Pirates, then the Phillies start the 2015 regular season on Monday at home against the Boston Red Sox. There are a few tweaks to the fan experience on display for the first time tonight. There are bright new digital menu boards at the concession stands. At the new Wayback burger location you can try to wrap your mouth around a 9 patty burger. Also new: wine and cocktails will be available on the concourse level.

Two people are hospitalized after being shot outside a house party near Temple’s main campus. Officers on patrol heard gun shots at about 1:30 this morning near the intersection of Park and Susquehanna Avenues. Upon arrival, officers watched a 24-year-old man place a gun on the sidewalk and run from the scene. He was arrested after a struggle with police. A second suspect was also taken into custody. Chief Inspector Scott Small says two people, ages 19 and 23, were shot after a fight at the party spilled into the streets. The 19-year-old victim was shot three times and is listed in critical condition. The other victim is in stable condition with a shot to the arm.

St. Joseph’s University has launched an investigation into allegations of hazing. Portions of their released statement say: “Saint Joseph’s University is fully aware of the allegations involving members of the women’s softball team. SJU is taking these allegations very seriously and is well into a comprehensive investigation of the matter. While that investigation is not yet complete, remedial actions have already been taken to assure there is no disruption to the educational environment of any students who may be affected. Due to federal student privacy regulations, there will be no additional comment by the University at this time.” The University adds it is taking the matter very seriously and has not discussed the specific nature of the allegations.
