A taxi driver was arrested overnight after leading police on a chase and crashing into a fence in South Philadelphia. Police say they received calls of a taxi going the wrong way. When officers found that taxi, police say the driver was asleep behind the wheel. When he wouldn’t wake up, the officers broke the window. That’s when the driver took off and led them on a short chase losing his front tire and crashing through a fence at Delaware and Oregon Avenues. Authorities say the driver then attempted to get out the taxi and flee police on foot, but officers quickly caught up to him. The taxi driver was taken to Jefferson hospital for minor injuries. He is facing several charges, including DUI.

Authorities have identified the off duty Darby Borough police officer who was shot and killed Saturday. Around 4:30 in the afternoon, police responded to a call of shots fired at a house in the 600 block of Magnolia Avenue in Glenolden, Delaware County. When they arrived, they found a woman in the house, and, in an upstairs bedroom they found the 26-year-old officer, identified as Mark Hudson, with a gunshot wound in the chest. He was taken to Presbyterian Hospital, where he died. No one has been charged yet in the murder.

Home, the animated science fiction comedy, earned an estimated, $54-million on its debut weekend. That put it ahead of Get Hard, the comedy teaming Will Ferrell and Kevin Hart, which placed second with a healthy $35-million. Dropping to third was last weekend’s leader, Insurgent, which took in $22-million. And fourth was another holdover, Cinderella, with $18-million.
