Temple Football Players Arraigned, Souderton Whooping Cough, Palcohol Powdered Alcohol Sales

Two Temple University football players were arraigned overnight, facing charges including aggravated assault. Temple student athletes Dion Dawkins and Haason Reddick were arraigned Monday night, held with $10,000 secured bond. The two Temple football players are charged with aggravated assault, criminal conspiracy, simple assault, and recklessly endangering another person. Early Tuesday morning, both Dawkins and Reddick posted bail. They’re scheduled to be in court for a preliminary hearing on March 31st.
Temple University released a statement, which reads:
Temple University is aware of allegations of improper conduct by two of its student-athletes at an off-campus location in January. The university has, and will continue, to fully cooperate with the Philadelphia Police Department in its investigation and will take appropriate actions outlined in the Student Conduct Code. The two students have been suspended from football team activities pending further investigation.

Another student at Souderton Area High School has been diagnosed with whooping cough, according to a statement on the Souderton Area School District’s website. According to a statement on the district’s website, the first case was confirmed by the Montgomery County Health Department (MCHD) on Wednesday, March 11.
The district’s website says as a result of an additional student’s diagnosis with Pertussis, the Health Department has declared the high school in “Outbreak Status.” “The Health Department recommends that any students with a cough not come to school until they have been examined and tested for Pertussis by their physician,” reads the statement on the district’s website.

While federal regulators have approved the sale of powdered alcohol, being marked as “Palcohol,” it won’t be coming anytime soon to stores run by the Pennsylvania Liquor Control Board. The PLCB’s Stacy Kriedeman says the state store system will not put powdered alcohol products, equally subject to state regulations, on its shelves. State senator Shirley Kitchen (D-Phila.) has introduced legislation that would ban both the sale and consumption of powdered alcohol in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania, prohibiting it from being brought in from out of state. The maker of powered alcohol says the same rules apply for buying Palcohol: you must be 21 or older. It also says snorting it would go down like snorting black pepper, and it would not be easy to spike a drink, because of the length of time it takes to dissolve.
