The Central Bucks West Board voted nearly all in favor with one opposed to terminate guidance counselor Marykate Blankenburg. Blankenberg was suspended in December after a Facebook rant threatening to shoot people. It read, "If my child cannot get to the Eagles game due to protesters, I will personally SHOOT every one of them. You’ve been warned idiots!!" The school board says it’s a lapse in judgment beyond repair. The Montgomery County District Attorney did review the post and determined it did not rise to the level of a crime.

A 76 year old woman was killed during an overnight fire in Yeadon. The blaze at 18 Providence Road was called in around 2:48am, and when fire fighters arrived on scene they found heavy flames coming from the first floor of the residence. The woman was removed from the first floor of the home, and was pronounced dead at the scene. The fire was brought under control in less than a half an hour, but the cause remains under investigation.

A student and young entrepreneur at Penn’s Wharton School has won a major award. Wharton junior Aaron Goldstein was named Entrepreneur magazine’s “College Entrepreneur of the Year.” He won for developing a smart thermometer called “Fever Smart.” The wearable device has a computer chip in an adhesive bandage which, Goldstein says, can help parents keep tabs on a sick child’s fever, monitor health workers treating Ebola patients, or to keep track of the temperatures of soldiers in combat.
