Coatesville Car Accident Kills One, Misspelling Gets NJ Principal Demoted, Philadelphia Orchestra

At least one person is dead after a single car accident in South Coatesville Township, Chester County Friday morning. This happened just after 5 a.m. on Modena Road between Union Street and Overhill Road. Authorities say the car rolled over, forcing the closure of Modena Road in both directions.

A high school principal has lost her job , and the reason may be because of a sign outside the school with several errors. At the entryway of Public School Number 20 in Patterson, New Jersey was a sign with two misspelled words and one backward number. It took more than a week for anyone to notice the glaring mistakes, or to speak up then fix them. The principal of the school was demoted to vice principal and reassigned. The district will not confirm the misspellings were the reason for the change.

The Philadelphia Orchestra performed timeless holiday favorites Thursday night at the Kimmel Center, and has more performances of the program entitled “The Glorious Sound of Christmas” Friday and Saturday night. Under the baton of conductor Bramwell Tovey, the orchestra, backed by the vocals of the Mendelssohn Club of Philadelphia, performed traditional holiday music, including arrangements that were on Eugene Ormandy’s famous 1962 recording and Tovey’s own arrangements. Back stage, in his dressing room, he also played a tune he wrote while walking through Rittenhouse Square that is included in the program. He’s calling it the ‘Rittenhouse Carol.’
