Cowboys Defeat Eagles, Obama Visits McGuire Air Force Base, Police Mayfair Shooting

The Eagles needed to play one of their better games this season Sunday night against the Dallas Cowboys - considering they only had their season at stake. And they didn’t. After clumsiness led to an early deficit, the Eagles sabotaged their comeback - and quite possibly their season - in a 38-27 loss to the Cowboys in the last home game this year at the Linc. The loss drops the Eagles to 9-5 with two games left against the Washington Redskins and New York Giants. Dallas improves to 10-4 and takes control of the NFC East, with Indianapolis at home next week, and finishing on the road against Washington. The Eagles could finish 11-5 and as it stands now will in all probability not make the playoffs, sitting a game behind 10-4 Seattle and Green Bay, and are in a position to lose the tiebreaker to every team they will compete against for a playoff berth.

Gov. Chris Christie will join President Barack Obama during a visit to McGuire Air Force Base on Monday. The White House says Obama is coming to Joint Base McGuire-Dix-Lakehurst to thank the troops and their families for their service and sacrifice. The base is home to more than 38,000 active-duty, reserve and guard service members, civilians and family members.

Police have confirmed that a person was shot by a police officer early Monday morning on the 6700 block of Frankford Avenue in Mayfair shortly before 3am. The suspect was pronounced dead on the scene at 3:11am with a gunshot wound to the head. The suspect is 26-years-old, and has a criminal record. Two officers in a marked car pulled the suspect over for a traffic violation. What lead to the shooting is still unknown. Captain George Fuchs says evidence technicians found a handgun inside the man’s car. The man has been identified as 26-year-old Brandon Tate Brown of North Philadelphia.
