Judge McCaffery Suspended, Virginia Hill Murdered, Century 21 and Nordstrom Rack Hit Center City

An ongoing email pornography scandal in Harrisburg that's cost multiple people their jobs, leads to the suspension of a Supreme Court Justice. The Pennsylvania Supreme Court has temporarily placed Judge Seamus McCaffery on paid leave following his admission to sending and receiving hundreds of sexually explicit emails with members of the Office of the Attorney General. Within the next month the judicial conduct board will review McCaffery's allegations as they determine whether or not to file formal misconduct charges against him.

Former Philadelphia Police Officer Virginia Hill, who retired from the force in 2002 after devoting her 24-year career to finding missing children, now has become a victim herself, murdered inside her Suffolk, Va. home Saturday. Hill, in a July, 2001, interview said she treated every missing child as one of her own, was tenacious finding and identifying children who vanished, many of whom met with foul play. So far, there’s no word from Virginia investigators on a motive or if they are close to catching the suspected killer.

Two stores opening this week will breathe new life into Center City’s retail landscape. New York-based department store Century 21 will open in the Gallery on 8th and Market Thursday. Nordstrom Rack is set to open Friday on the corner of 17th and Chestnut. Retail experts say the newest shopping trend revolves around discount luxury brands.
