Fatal Accident on I-76, Fryar and Mother Mortgage Fraud Trial, Center City Cab Driver Stabbed

One lane of the Eastbound Schuylkill Expressway is now getting by after a fatal, multi-vehicle accident near the Montgomery off-ramp Thursday morning. Authorities say at least one person is dead. There’s no word yet on other injuries. The Martin Luther King Drive is taking most of the Schuylkill bailout and the Kelly Drive is also quickly backing up.

Former Philadelphia Eagles wide receiver Irving Fryar and his mother will be tried on mortgage fraud charges in Burlington County. The pair were offered deals to avoid trial — five years prison for Fryar, three years for his mom, Allene McGhee — along with repaying some $700,000 allegedly obtained through five home equity loans. That trial is set for February 3rd before Burlington County Judge Jeanne Covert. They could face five to ten years if convicted.

A male dressed in women’s clothing stabbed a cab driver in Philadelphia Thursday morning at 12th and Market Streets in Center City. The suspect, who police say was a male dressed in women’s clothing, stabbed a cab driver in the leg. After stabbing the cab driver, the suspect ran away and remains on the loose. The cab driver is listed in stable condition.
