Northeast Philadelphia Shooting, SEPTA Tentative Contract, Obama and Biden in Philadelphia This Week

Police are investigating after they say a man was shot four times in Northeast Philadelphia Monday night at the 7000 block of Castor Avenue. Philadelphia Police say the man was shot in the leg, arm, shoulder and suffered a graze wound to the head. He was taken to Aria Health Torresdale Campus in critical condition. An investigation is underway.

Engineers on SEPTA's Regional Rail lines have reached a tentative contract with the transit agency, ending a five-year standoff. The Brotherhood of Locomotive Engineers and Trainmen announced the proposed contract which includes a 13.3-percent pay hike. The tentative deal would cover unionized workers through July of next year. The proposed contract still must be ratified by the union members.

First lady Michelle Obama will be In Philadelphia this week campaigning for Tom Wolf, the Democratic candidate for governor of Pennsylvania. She’ll appear Wednesday morning at the Emanuel Recreation Center, 8500 Pickering Avenue, in Mt. Airy. Doors open to the public at 9am. Organizers are giving out free tickets, available at Wolf’s local field offices , in West Oak Lane, Norristown, and South Philadelphia, on a first-come, first-served basis, due to space limitations. And vice president Joe Biden will be at a Philadelphia event on Thursday highlighting the importance of investing in America’s infrastructure.
