A young girl has died after a fall from a high-rise apartment complex in Philadelphia this morning. It happened at an apartment complex in the 4200 block of Locust Street in West Philadelphia. The eight-year-old girl fell out of the apartment complex from the 9th floor. The child was rushed to Children's Hospital of Philadelphia, but was pronounced dead. The incident is under investigation.

After video of the group who allegedly attacked a gay couple was released by Philadelphia Police yesterday, several leads surfaced on social media and were reported to police. (How it came together.) According to reports, lawyers representing several of the suspects have contacted police. The gay couple was beaten after words were exchanged while several in the pack held the victims down.

UPDATE 9/19/14 12:05 a.m.: Several suspects have made arrangements through their lawyers to surrender/talk to police. Several persons-of-interest have apparently been questioned through out the day by Central Detectives. No charges have been filed or arrests made. However, once any charges are filed they won't be for hate crimes. Under current PA law, only crimes motivated by race, religion or ethnicity can be prosecuted as a hate crime, not sexual preference or identity.

At least one of the suspects, 25-year-old Fran McGlinn, has been identified. McGlinn has been fired from his position as an assistant basketball coach at Archbishop Wood High School. Kenneth Gavin, a spokesman for the Archdiocese of Philadelphia, says McGlinn was "serving as a coach on a contract basis... He was terminated this evening and will not be permitted to coach in any archdiocesan school. We expect all those who work with students in our schools to model appropriate Christian behavior at all times." (update) McGlinn was not fired, he resigned his position when confronted.

The 32 year old man shot and killed in Holme Circle may not have come in through the window after all. Initial reports said 41 year old Charles Jordan confused his 20 year daughter’s boyfriend, 32 year old Marc Carrion as an intruder and shot him. Now investigators say the victim may have been cowering in a corner of the daughter’s bedroom when shot. The investigation continues.
