Longwood Gardens in Chester County is known for its flowers and trees, but the Garden's restrooms are in a contest for the title "Best Bathroom in America." Accompanied by a glass roof that lets the sun in, a winding 20-foot high wall covered in more than 40,000 plants guides the way to the Longwood Gardens bathroom pods. Evans says each bathroom pod has a skylight, as well as motion detectors for the toilets, sinks and paper towel dispensers. There are ten other bathrooms in competition with Longwood Gardens.

Philadelphia University dedicated a new center for public service Thursday night, and it's named after the longest serving U.S. Senator in Pennsylvania history. The historic Roxboro House, dating back to the late 1770s, underwent a $4-million makeover and is now the home of the Arlen Specter Center for Public Service. Inside, weekly roundtables are expected. And on display, Spector’s work on the Warren Commission, President Clinton’s impeachment and snapshots with powerful players.

Nurses at Crozer-Chester Medical Center in Delaware County have approved a two-day strike beginning September 21st. They say it is to protest “bad faith bargaining” by the hospital. About 600 nurses are represented by the Pennsylvania Association of Nurses and Allied Professionals. Nurses have been working under terms of an old agreement which expired in June. The hospital said it had hoped the union would work toward a compromise which would allow competitive pay and cost savings to the facility. It also said a contingency plan is ready for the strike.
