Ocean City, Maryland Police have charged two men in the slaying of a Pennsylvania man. Officers found 37-year-old Justin Daniel Cancelliere of North Whitehall, Pennsylvania, unconscious in the parking lot of a hotel early Sunday. Police say he was assaulted during an altercation near Talbot Street and Baltimore Avenue. Cancelliere died of his injuries Sunday at Atlantic General Hospital. Police on Tuesday arrested 27-year-old Caleb Ochse and 22-year-old Christopher Kendall, both of Ocean City. Both have been charged with manslaughter, assault and other offenses.

The Camden County Police Department is beefing up its K-9 unit. Police Chief Scott Thomson says through a combination of grants and corporation donations, the force will be adding five more dogs to the unit for a total of seven. Sgt. Zsakhiem James, a veteran of the unit, will be heavily involved with training the new recruits. He says police dogs are a force multiplier.

Philadelphia Police arrested a man who they say shot and killed two women in their Holmesburg home over the weekend. Investigators say despite the suspect’s history of robberies and gun charges, the victims actually tried to help him out. James Mears, 25, now faces two counts of murder, robbery and other offenses. Police say he killed 67-year-old Dollie Evans and 57-year-old Ruby Thomas in their home on the 4700 block of Vista Street Saturday evening. When he got out of prison the two women were nice enough to allow him to stay in their place. Mears struggled with then shot Evans and took $500. Then, he went up a floor and strangled and shot Thomas. Clark says Mears also confessed while in custody.
