A teen is hospitalized after he was reportedly struck by lightning in Glenolden, Delaware County. It happened at around 8:00 pm on the unit block of East Ashland Avenue. The 14-year-old boy was leaving to go to his aunt's house. He was struck in the hand as he was getting into the car. The teen was taken to Crozer Chester Medical Center and is in good condition. He will be transferred to a children's hospital.

Governor Chris Christie has ordered all state buildings to fly flags at half-staff on Wednesday to honor the service and sacrifice of Jersey City Police Officer Melvin Santiago, who was raised in Jersey City and lost his life in the line of duty. Santiago is the first Jersey City officer killed in the line of duty since Detective Marc DiNardo died in July 2009 during a raid on an apartment while searching for suspects in a robbery.

Fire officials have yet to release the cause of the fatal Southwest Philadelphia house blaze that killed four children. Monday evening, the father of two of the victims who had been critical of the city’s response, had a meeting at City Hall and talked about a letter he received from the Mayor. Patrick Sanyeah, reflects on a letter from the Mayor, who expressed sadness, sympathy and said firefighters did everything they could to save lives and the city would fully investigate the blaze. Sanyeah, still grieving, spent an hour meeting with Deputy Mayor Everett Gillison, which he calls positive.

Weather, July 15

Scattered thunderstorms. High 91 in Center City.
