Pleasantville NJ Bus Crash, Haddington Police Shooting, NJ Gun Laws

A collision between a car and a bus in Pleasantville, New Jersey Monday afternoon claimed the lives of two people and injured at least eight others. The NJ Transit bus was headed from Atlantic City to the Hamilton Mall when a car carrying six people jumped the median and hit the bus head-on. Witnesses say the car was speeding. Pleasantville Police say two people in the car, one of them the driver, were killed and the other four passengers were taken to the hospital.

Philadelphia Police shot at least one person who was armed with a gun Monday evening in the Haddington neighborhood of Philadelphia. Police were responding to a call of a man with a gun. When they arrived on the scene the man reportedly pointed the gun at police, who then opened fire. No officers were hurt. The suspect was shot in the arm and leg, then taken to the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania where he is expected to survive.

New Jersey lawmakers say they are taking steps to prevent gun tragedies. A bill to limit gun magazine size is now heading to Governor Christie’s desk. This was in response to the shooting at Sandy Hook Elementary. Friday’s Santa Barbra rampage left six people dead and 13 injured – before the shooter, Elliot Rodgers, turned the gun on himself. Rodgers had a manifesto explaining his need for revenge – especially towards women who have turned him down. He also posted a video the night before the shootings, talking about his “retribution.”
