Wildwood Dog Friendly Beaches, Trenton 9 Year Old Shot, Philadelphia School District Sit-In

Wildwood Commissioner Pete Byron says the city commission has voted to make part of the oceanfront dog-friendly year round. Byron says they’re looking at a couple of sites but haven’t made a decision yet. They expect to have it open by June in hopes of making owners feel especially welcome in Wildwood.

A 9-year-old girl is hospitalized after she was shot three times in Trenton on Monday afternoon.
Police say she was not the intended target. A nearby SUV was left riddled with bullets. A warrant squad was in the neighborhood looking for an individual at the same home the little girl ran into bleeding from her wounds. Shots were fired after the squad had left. The girl is in stable condition with non-life threatening injuries.

A group of students made a call for full and fair funding for Philadelphia schools by staging a demonstration at the school district headquarters Monday evening. The students were also there to honor the 60th anniversary of Brown vs. the Board of Education, which put an end to segregation in schools. The symbolic demonstration organized by Youth United for Change started with nearly 20 students holding a sit-in, but they were peacefully moved out front by police after about 30 minutes. The event was the kick off for what Youth United for Change is calling a week of action and a “protest escalation” that includes a march to Washington, D.C.

Weather, May 13

Clouds, with showers later. High 78 in Center City.
