The Temple University Board of Trustees voted today to reinstate the men's and women's crew team following a recommendation from the university president, Neil Theobald. He also is seeking a comittment from the City of Philadelphia to help with renovations on Temple's boathouse along Boathouse Row. The crew teams were two of the seven programs slated to be shut down at the end of this year including baseball, softball, men's gymnastics, track and field and indoor track and field. Those five are still scheduled to play out their final seasons, with some teams working on ways to save their sports.

Last January, 5-year-old Nailla Robinson was kidnapped from her Kindergarten classroom at Bryant Elementary School and then held captive and assaulted a few blocks away in West Philadelphia. She escaped in the middle of the night and was found the next morning. Her family now plans to file a federal civil rights lawsuit against the Philadelphia school district. “In particular, there was a failure to train the substitute teacher who allowed this young, innocent child to be taken from the school,” Kline said today. They hope the lawsuit helps improved security in schools in addition to their monetary damages. Christina Regusters, who is charged with abducting and attacking the girl, is still being held for trial.

Two storage lockers that were being rented by the troubled ex-sportscaster Don Tollefson were auctioned off this afternoon for non-payment of rent. The storage facility located at Penn's Landing made notice of the auction last week. Around two dozen bidders showed up to get a look at what was inside and try to win it's contents. The first locker seemed only to have some trash and a bottle of sauce. The second locker had some hockey sticks, hats, and plaques. There was no treasure trove of sports memorabilia to be found in these lockers, however, the first one sold for $175 and the second went for $600. A Chevy Blazer was also for sale. It had no title or keys but did have a broken windshield. That went for $100.

Tonight
Clear Skies, temperatures in the low 30s upper 20s this evening in Philadelphia.
