NJ State Employee Delayed Opening, Storm Power Outages, Storm Flooding

Due to the winter storm, Governor Chris Christie has authorized a delayed opening of 10:30 a.m. for all non-essential state employees on Friday. The governor says this will allow ample time for roadways, parking lots and sidewalks to be cleared and made safe for travel. Essential employees should report to work on their regular schedule.

Snow, followed by sleet and freezing rain caused problems Thursday morning with power lines around the Delaware Valley. Forecasters were warning of the potential for significant icing in the northern and western suburbs of Philadelphia.
As of 10 p.m., PECO was reporting 694 outages, with the majority in Philadelphia, Chester, Montgomery and Bucks counties. PPL, Delmarva, PSE&G and AC Electric had just a handful.

Flooding has been reported in some areas as the winter storm continues to move across the region, bringing a mixture of snow and rain. In Falls Township, Bucks County, the intersection of Route 1 and Route 13 is flooded. In Princeton, Mercer County police say River Road (CR-605) is closed between Herrontown Road and Blue Spring Road due to flooding. Police advise that the snow combined with heavy rain has made driving dangerous and urge drivers to use caution.

Weather

Mainly Sunny. High 39 in Center City.
