Bridgegate Opinions Divided, Radnor Murder-Suicide, Desean Jackson Offers Burglary Info Reward

Prominent Republicans leapt to GOP Gov. Chris Christie's defense on Sunday, insisting that an ongoing traffic scandal wouldn't ruin any presidential ambitions, while Democrats say it's difficult to believe such a hands-on manager knew nothing about a plan by a top aide to close lanes at a bridge into New York City. Politicians from both sides of the aisle took to the Sunday talk shows to debate the fallout from the traffic jams near the George Washington Bridge in September and any role Christie may have played. Documents show Christie’s aides appeared to engineer lane closures at the heavily traveled bridge to punish a Democratic mayor who failed to endorse his re-election bid.

Authorities say a husband and wife are both dead after a murder-suicide Sunday afternoon in Radnor, Delaware County. This happened at the couple’s home on the 300 block of Wayne Avenue around 2 p.m. According to authorities, the husband and wife were arguing and may have had a struggle in the guest house behind their main home. The man then shot his wife. He called police but turned the gun on himself before they arrived. The couple’s eight-year-old son was reportedly home at the time of the shooting, but was not in the guest house. They also have two daughters, ages 17 and 15, who were not home.

Police say they are searching for the suspect or suspects who broke into the home of Philadelphia Eagles wide receiver DeSean Jackson, and stole hundreds of thousands of dollars. Jackson’s mother called the police early Saturday morning saying she discovered her son’s second floor bedroom was ransacked and items were missing. DeSean is offering a $50,000 reward for information leading to the arrest and conviction of the suspect or suspects in this case.

One person has died and two people have been injured after a fire escape collapsed in Rittenhouse Square early Sunday morning. It happened just after midnight at the John C. Bell apartment building in the 200 block of 22nd Street during a birthday party. The three people had stepped out onto the fire escape on the 4th floor to have a smoke before it collapsed and they fell 40 feet. A 22-year-old man suffered sever head and neck injuries and dies hours later at Hahnemann Hospital. A 26-year-old woman was taken to Jefferson University Hospital and a 25-year-old woman is at the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania. They are in stable condition. Investigators will have to determine why the fire escape fell and whether it was properly maintained by the building owner.
