Horrocks Street Carjack Shooting, Frozen Lancaster Puppies, Delaware River Ice Jam

Philadelphia Police say a 44-year-old man is hospitalized after being shot twice during a carjacking attempt in Northeast Philadelphia in the 7200 block of Horrocks Street. Police say the victim, shot twice in the torso, was taken to Aria Health Torresdale Campus. He is listed in critical but stable condition. Two male suspects wearing all black clothing fled northbound on Horrocks Street. No arrests have been made at this time.

Police in Lancaster are searching for whoever stuffed two puppies in a blue backpack and left them to die on one of the coldest days of the year. Mike Diehm of the Lancaster County SPCA said the pups — one male, one female — were nearly frozen when a man heard them crying from inside the backpack Wednesday morning as he walked by. They’re believed to be Chihuahua mixes and around two months old. They have been warmed and are doing well.

An ice jam on the Delaware River just south of the Trenton Morrisville Bridge has prompted officials to issue a flood warning for Bucks and Mercer Counties. Water levels have risen about seven feet since Tuesday night. There are one to two-foot chunks of ice jammed up not far south of the Trenton Morrisville Bridge. On the Bucks County side, officials in waterfront communities are keeping a close eye on water levels and hoping the blockage will clear itself out.
