A slowdown brought on by the rapid proliferation of casino gambling in the northeastern United States claimed its first victim in New Jersey on Monday when a federal bankruptcy judge approved the sale and shutdown of Atlantic City’s Atlantic Club Casino Hotel. Two rival casino companies will buy the casino for $23.4 million, essentially strip it for parts and shut it down. The Tropicana will take the slot machines and table games, while Caesars will get the 800-plus-room hotel. Atlantic City will have 11 casinos after the shutdown.

A local State Representative hosted a community gathering at Yesha Fellowship Hall in South Philadelphia Monday evening, where hundreds of bikes were given out to children living in the 186th District. State Rep. Jordan Harris hosted the event, where more than 200-bikes supplied by Huffy were given out by Santa. Harris says he expects to see a spike in bike riders in his district in the near future, thanks to $10 million in funding recently secured .

Philadelphia Police are searching for a missing woman and are asking for the public’s help.
