Brewerytown Shooting, Fishtown Crash Investigation, Christie Defends Use of Sandy Relief Money

A 17-year-old boy was killed after he was shot multiple times in the city's Brewerytown section Wednesday night. The victim was shot multiple times in the chest. He was taken to Hahnemann University Hopsital in critical condition, where he was later pronounced dead. Police say they recovered 13 shell casings at the scene.

The Philadelphia District Attorney's Office is now investigating a car crash from last weekend involving an off-duty Philadelphia police officer and a Fishtown man who died. The family of 55-year-old David Farries is now grieving his death. He lost his life Tuesday after getting seriously hurt in a two-car crash late Saturday night in Northeast Philadelphia. Now the District Attorney’s Office is investigating the 54-year-old police officer and whether he was under the influence The officer was also hurt in the crash but with non-life threatening injuries.

New Jersey Governor Chris Christie is defending his decision to take some federal Sandy relief money to help businesses hit by last week’s boardwalk fire in Seaside Heights. Some suggest it’s not right for some who were not affected by the Superstorm to get some of that federal aid. Christie points to the Ocean County Prosecutor who decided damage from Sandy affected electrical wiring, and yes…that played a part in the inferno.
