Lorenzo's Pizza Reopens on South Street; Overbrook High Murder Charges; Grand Jury Indicts Regusters

It's been a little over 10 months since a devastating fire destroyed the popular late night pizza shop Lorenzo's on South Street, but owner Giuseppe "Joe" Pulizzi vowed to rebuild and has. The June 27 blaze tore through the building. Firefighters had a hard time fighting it with no rear access and the painted wood facade covering up the front windows. Now the place is totally rebuilt and ready to reopen. The front wooden portrait has been replaced with windows and a full building wrap. There is now an entrance and and exit door! The interior has been rebuilt with new carpets, flooring, counters, ovens, and lighting. One thing that did survive the fire... The giant wooden pizza palette used to serve up those extra-large pies.

Two men have been charged with the murder of 17-year-old Overbrook High School student Bernard Scott. Scott was shot and killed April 11th at about 3:45 p.m. at Tustin Playground located near 59th Street and Lancaster Avenue across the street from school. 20-year-old Jaquan Jordan and 18-year-old Stanley Postell both of Philadelphia have been arrested and charged with murder and related offenses. On April 11th a group of young males got into an argument. What started as a fistfight, grew more violent as two pulled out guns and exchanged fire. Scott was an innocent bystander. Two other teens were also shot during the incident and taken to the hospital and survived.

A grand jury indicted Christina Regusters in the January abduction of then 5-year-old Nailla Robinson today in Philadelphia court. The 19-year-old day care worker has been charged with aggravated assault, kidnapping, involuntary deviant sexual intercourse, unlawful contact, restraint of a minor, and false imprisonment. The little girl was taken from her classroom at Bryant Elementary School by a woman pretending to be her mother, led to a nearby home where she was assaulted, and was eventually found the next morning in a playground in Upper Darby wearing only a t-shirt, cold and shivering. Regusters has been the only one charged in this case but both her lawyer and the lawyer for the girl's family believe there will be more arrests.
