Tasco Blames Nutter, Philadelphia Allergies Rank 25th, SEPTA Zoo Train Station

City councilwoman Marion Tasco's anger over delays in renovations to a rec center in her district boiled over Tuesday at a budget hearing. She blames the Nutter Administration for deliberately holding up the project. Tasco believes the mayor delayed the work as punishment for her opposition last year to the use of PGW money to explore the sale of the city-owned utility.

Philadelphia has moved up on a national list of the worst cities for allergy sufferers. Philadelphia is now 25 out of the top 100 worst cities for allergy suffers - that's up five places from last year. Officials at the Allergy and Asthma Foundation of America looked at pollen scores, the number of allergy medications prescribed per patient and the number of specialists per patient.

The Philadelphia Zoo is opening up a new parking garage on Friday, but it’s still hoping - down the road - to get a train stop there, as well. A new feasibility study for the zoo puts the price tag of a SEPTA station at upwards of $60-million, but SEPTA Director of Strategic Planning Byron Comati says there are engineering challenges to overcome and the question of paying for it: He expects the zoo will seek federal funding.

Weather
