Nutter Tax Appeals, Schuylkill Cycle Crash, Old City Taxi Marijuana Fare

The Nutter Administration says about 22,000 homeowners had requested informal appeals of their new property assessments. That's about 5 percent of residential properties. What they're calling a 'first level review' of assessments is really an informal discussion between the property owner and the assessor. Officials had expected about 30,000 requests of first level reviews.

A motorcyclist was killed in an accident on the Schuylkill Expressway on Monday night. The accident happened at about 7:20 p.m. on I-76 eastbound near Girard Avenue. Pennsylvania State Police say the motorcyclist lost control and crashed. The accident backed up traffic for several miles.

What happened inside a taxi led to an arrest after a passenger tried to pay his fare with pot. Michael Medvec is charged with trying to cover his cab fare that came out to about $8 with a bag of marijuana. It happened on Friday on Chestnut Street in Old City. Medvec’s charged with Possession of Marijuana on top of not paying for his fare.
