Six children and the bus driver were taken to Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital in Hamilton after an accident on Monday afternoon. The bus driver says she swerved to avoid hitting a deer, and the bus wound up in a ditch. Fourteen students were on the bus when the driver lost control and crashed into a ditch on Merrick Road, just off of Edgebrook Road.

A new poll finds more than three-quarters of regular visitors to the Jersey shore plan to be back this summer despite Superstorm Sandy. Of those who plan to come back, 64 percent plan to stay as long as they had in past years, while 13 percent planned to stay even longer this summer. Atlantic City (11 percent) and Seaside Heights (10 percent) are respondents’ top destinations, followed by Wildwood, Long Beach Island, Point Pleasant Beach and Ocean City.

A teen was struck by a SEPTA bus in the Frankford section of Philadelphia on Monday. The accident happened on the 4200 block of Marlowe Street around 4:30 p.m. The victim, a 14-year-old male, was riding a bike at the time. He was transported to St. Christopher’s Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
