State Police have issued an Amber Alert for a missing 5-year-old girl, Nailla Robinson, who was abducted from Bryant Elementary School in West Philadelphia Monday morning. A little before 9 a.m., an adult dressed in Muslim-style clothing walked into the school and signed in at the front desk, but her name was not legible. School officials say instead of walking to the principal’s office, the woman walked directly to the classroom and removed the child, claiming she was her daughter. Robinson is described as 4 feet tall, 35 pounds, with a medium skin tone and brown eyes. She was wearing glasses and has curly hair. Anyone with information is asked to contact police immediately.

The 26-year-old Philadelphia man accused of phoning in a false bomb threat to Philadelphia International Airport last fall has pleaded guilty. Kenneth Smith made the call on September 6th, saying a passenger on a flight bound for Dallas had a liquid explosive. Smith faces a maximum possible sentence of up to 15 years in prison, and a $500,000 fine. Smith is scheduled to be sentenced April 16th.

In the wake of Newtown, school districts and parents are struggling with weighing the risks versus the reality of all kinds of horrible hypothetical security issues. Dozens of parents attended a forum on school violence with the superintendent of the Council Rock School District last night. It was a week after Newtown when two handguns and a fake rifle were seized from the home of a freshman student at Council Rock South who police allege threatened to shoot students. The security suggestions parents mentioned includes adding metal detectors, more security cameras, and installing keypad locks on outside doors.
