Port Richmond Child Shooting, Philadelphia Guinness Book Soul Train Entry, Flu Cases Higher in 2012

A child was rushed to the hospital after shooting herself in the foot in the city's Port Richmond neighborhood Tuesday night. It happened at about 11 p.m. on the 1800 block of Wishart Street. Police do not believe the shooting to be suspicious.

Philadelphia is officially in the Guinness Book of World Records for having the largest Soul Train line in the world. February 13th, 2012 as a tribute to Soul Train creator Don Cornelius, more than 2000 people gathered outside the Art Museum of Philadelphia dressed in bell bottoms and bush wigs, dancing for hours to break the record set at 211 dancers by Beverly Hills High School. The official count is 291 dancers.

The Pennsylvania Department of Health reports a higher than normal number of flu cases so far this season saying there’s been a significant increase in flu cases since Thanksgiving and the number of new cases, at this point, is at least double what is typical for a normal flu season. The flu bug being seen most often in Pennsylvania this season is type A, the strain most often linked to severe flu seasons.
