Philadelphia Bike Roundup, Former Philadelphia Cop ID'd in Luring Case, Norristown Fire Investigated

Philadelphia Streets Department crews will be out, starting tomorrow, rounding up abandoned bicycles that are in disrepair and have been left locked to poles for more than a month. One reason to round up abandoned bikes is that they’re taking parking spaces away from regular riders. The city is donating the bicycles to charity, including the group “Neighborhood Bike Works,” which teaches kids about bike repair.

An 8 year old girl testified and identified the man she says grabbed her in her front yard in an alleged luring case in Roxborough last month. 72-year-old defendant, Leo Hailey, ordered held for trial, is a former Philadelphia police Inspector who retired in 1994 and has a sordid criminal history. Haley, in custody now on a million dollars bail, will be arraigned next month and he is expected to enter a plea of NOT guilty.

A fire in Norristown Tuesday afternoon is under investigation. It happened in the 900 block of Main Street in Norristown at about 4 p.m. No injuries were reported. Authorities say at least eight units have been damaged.
