NJ Credit Card Fraud, Radnor HS Cell Phone Investigation, Philadelphia Bike-Traffic Code Revisions

A New Jersey woman plead guilty Thursday to using her deceased aunt's identity to obtain access to credit card and deposit accounts, causing three banks to lose more than $30,000. Jocelyn Russo pretended to be her aunt JB and used the woman's Social Security number and other personal identifying information to fraudulently add herself to JB's account at Bank of America and JPMorgan Chase. Russo is charged with bank fraud and can face a potential penalty of 30 years in prison and a fine of $1 million.

Radnor police say that within the next 24 hours they should know for sure if private and possibly explicit images were sent to others from a Radnor High School student’s cell phone. School officials called police to the school Wednesday morning because of a fight. Police later determined the fight was over a cell phone that was allegedly stolen from a student at the school this week, and that there were rumors circulating that someone may have posted sexually explicit photos or videos taken from the phone on social media.

Bicycle advocates and AAA hope that revisions to the City of Philadelphia’s traffic code, approved yesterday by a City Council committee, will improve the difficult interactions between drivers, bicyclists, and pedestrians in the city. The changes include setting the penalty for bicycling on the sidewalk at $75. It also clarifies the state penalties for “dooring,” which is when a driver opens his door just as a bicyclist is passing by. Final approval by the full City Council is expected by month’s end, and the mayor supports the changes as well.
