Judge Nocella Suspended, Brad Fox's K9 Partner Adopted By His Family, Petraeus Local Ties

The state Supreme Court has suspended a Philadelphia judge accused of having failed to report legal problems to the bar association that later recommended him for election. The high court order dated Friday said Common Pleas Judge Thomas Nocella was relieved of "any and all judicial and administrative responsibilities." The order does not affect his salary or benefits. The state Judicial Conduct Board last month charged Nocella with violating judicial canons and the state constitution in allegedly failing to report numerous lawsuits to the Philadelphia Bar Association in 2009 and 2011 while the group was trying to decide whether to endorse him.

When Plymouth Township Police Officer Brad Fox was gunned down and killed, his K9 partner Nick was by his side. Now it is Nick that will be beside Brad’s family for life. Nick was retired Monday night and officially signed over to Brad’s widow Lindsay. Nick who was grazed during the shooting has since fully recovered.

There are two ties to our area regarding the David Patraeus scandal. Vernon Loeb, local editor for The Washington Post, ghostwrote Paula Broadwell’s biography, “All In: The Education of General David Petraeus.” Loeb says he worked with Broadwell for sixteen months on the book and in that time – never spoke to Petraeus himself, that was Broadwell’s responsibility. The investigation was sparked by a Florida woman, Jill Kelley, who was raised in Lower Moreland.
