Philadelphia Veterans Day Ceremonies, Plant A Million Effort, Eagles Defeated By Cowboys 38 - 23

Veterans Day ceremonies were held throughout the Delaware Valley on Sunday to honor those who've served. At the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier at the Washington Square Military Cemetery at 7th and Walnut, Mayor Nutter joined other veterans in a Sunday morning wreath laying ceremony. Visitors to the National Constitution Center were greeted by the strains of marches played by the 28th Division Band of the Pennsylvania National Guard. Additional Veterans Day ceremonies are scheduled across Philadelphia today, which include ceremonies at both the Korean War and Vietnam War memorials.

35 Philadelphia area neighborhoods received 900 new trees this weekend. The massive weekend planting was part of the Pennsylvania Horticultural Society’s “Plant a Million” effort as a multi-state campaign to plant a million trees in Pennsylvania, New Jersey and Delaware. They’ve been doing this, spring and fall, for two years and are up to about 200,000 trees planted.

Shoddy special teams play, horrible tackling, and turnovers for touchdowns resulted in a 38-23 Dallas Cowboys victory over the Eagles Sunday at Lincoln Financial Field. It marks the first time in Andy Reid’s 14-year tenure that the Eagles have lost five-straight games in a season—dropping the Eagles to 3-6. Fans got to see Nick Foles, who came on in the second quarter to relieve Michael Vick, who went to the locker room with a concussion. Andy Reid remains adamant in his belief that the Eagles can still make the playoffs.

Weather

Sunshine and clouds mixed. High 66 in Philadelphia.
