Arlen Specter Battling Cancer, New Pennsylvania ID Available Today For Voters

The second suspect in the murder of Philadelphia Police Officer Moses Walker Junior is now back in Philadelphia. After Walker's funeral and burial Monday, 19 year old Chancier McFarland was brought back to Philadelphia from Alabama, where he surrendered to the FBI. He was immediately taken in for processing and is expected to face murder charges.

Longtime Pennsylvania Senator Arlen Specter is seriously ill. Specter, 82, was diagnosed about six weeks ago with a new form of cancer, the specifics of which are being kept private by his family. Specter reportedly had a “big flare up” of the disease Monday night. Specter has overcome numerous serious illnesses over the past two decades, including a brain tumor and non-Hodgkin lymphoma.

Starting today, a new Pennsylvania ID is being made available to help potential voters get ready for the November election. This new state-issued ID is designed for residents who can’t get ID because they lack documentation like a birth certificate. The free ID is being offered at all 71 of PennDOT’s driver’s license centers. Residents need to be registered to vote, and need a social security number and proof of residency for example, a utility bill or a tax bill.
