Funeral arrangements have been set in place for Officer Moses Walker who was shot and killed during a robbery attempt early Saturday morning in North Philadelphia. This Sunday, August 26th, at 3:45 p.m., a horse drawn hearse will lead the 1.2 mile March to the Church from the Ethel Allen School Yard to the Deliverance Evangelistic Church at 2001 Lehigh Avenue in Philadelphia. A public viewing will take place at the church between 6 p.m. and 10 p.m. On Monday, between 7 a.m. and 9 a.m., a second viewing will be held at the church, with funeral services concluding at about noon. The burial will take place at Fernwood Cemetery at 6501 Baltimore Avenue in Landsdowne, Pa. Officer Walker was a 19-year veteran of the police force.

Police Commissioner Charles Ramsey announced the reward now stands at $118,000 for information leading to the arrest and conviction of the suspects responsible for Officer Walker’s murder.

Republican vice presidential candidate Paul Ryan spoke to a crowd at the American Helicopter Museum & Education Center Tuesday afternoon. Pennsylvania is one of his first campaign stops in his new role as the GOP vice presidential candidate. It’s expected to be a hot bed for this year’s presidential election and Ryan’s campaign didn’t choose West Chester as one of its first stops at random.
Chester County is also looked at as a potential swing county. In 2008, then presidential hopeful Barack Obama took Pennsylvania – and specifically Chester County.

The 15 year-old girl charged with starting a fire at her home in Gloucester County appeared in Superior Court Family Division on Tuesday for a second detention hearing. The girl had been charged with two counts of aggravated arson and six counts of attempted murder in connection with a fire Saturday in the Gloucester County house where she lived with her family. Six members of the girl’s family were said to be injured, including the girl herself.
