Broad St Line Weapons Suspect Arrested, Kensington Antique Cars Damaged, Phillies Win 2nd In A Row

A suspect carrying several weapons, including an AK-47, was arrested Tuesday evening aboard a Broad Street train, crowded with rush-hour commuters, at the Fairmount Station. In addition to the AK-47 assault weapon with a magazine carrying 40 live rounds of ammunition, authorities say the suspect had on him a .38 revolver and a 12-inch bayonet. Inside the bag, in addition to the weapons, police say they found $700 cash, seven containers of suspected marijuana and 22 Percocet pills.

Eighteen antique cars worth an estimated $1 million dollars were either damaged or destroyed in a warehouse fire in Kensington Wednesday morning. The two-alarm fire started shortly before 9:30 a.m. inside a storage facility building that housed 20 garages and nearly 40 cars on Jasper Street and Westmoreland Street. Firefighters battled intense smoke and towering flames, but they were able to place the fire under in control in about an hour.

One person is dead after a tractor-trailer and vehicle collided in Gloucester County Wednesday night near the intersection of Main and Weymouth roads in Franklin Township. The tractor-trailer burst into flames after colliding with the vehicle. There is no word on other injuries, although initial reports indicated several people were trapped underneath the wreckage.
